Alex Garvin

Vice President

Alex Garvin is a Vice President in the Private Equity Group at 50 South Capital. He primarily is responsible for sourcing, evaluating, and executing private credit investment opportunities. He also participates in fundraising and portfolio management activities.

Prior to joining 50 South Capital, Alex was a commercial banker at BMO, a highly diversified financial services provider with total assets over $900 billion. At BMO, Alex focused on originating, structuring, underwriting, and managing a portfolio of senior secured loans to privately held middle-market companies across a variety of industries. Prior to BMO, Alex was a relationship manager, portfolio manager, and commercial credit analyst at MB Financial Bank, where he began his career in the bank’s rotational Leadership Development Program.

Education & Associations

Alex received a BBA in Finance from the University of Iowa’s Tippie College of Business. He currently serves as a board member and Sponsorship Chair of Israel Cancer Research Fund.

Interests

Outside of work Alex enjoys traveling, playing golf, attending concerts, and exploring Chicago’s restaurant scene.
